ART THERAPY

Art therapists are trained to facilitate the healing process by bringing together counselling and art-making skills.

Art therapy combines the creative process and psychotherapy. Using imagery, colour and shape as part of this creative therapeutic process, thoughts and feelings can be expressed that would otherwise be difficult to articulate, facilitating self-exploration and understanding.

COUNSELLING

My counselling approach aims to be collaborative, supportive and filled with compassion. I strive to tailor each session to the individual and to be supportive of their growth, grounding and well-being. I offer practical tools and aid in the development of skills to support the client in their daily life. I hope to foster a safe, warm and welcoming environment so that my clients feel comfortable expressing their vulnerabilities and strengths. The therapy sessions include a variety of techniques, such as talk therapy, art therapy and mindfulness practices. I hope to bring the new skills I learn through continual professional development to each session.

ABOUT
Kirsten Roberts

"Life is never made unbearable by circumstances, but only by a lack of meaning and purpose." -Viktor Frankl.

I am a mental health professional and art therapist who moved to Canada from South Africa. I have worked with schools, community groups, treatment programs, and various businesses, with individuals and groups across the lifespan. In these diverse spaces, I have worked with individuals and families faced with multicultural challenges, trauma, grief and loss, depression and anxiety, stress, neurodivergence, and emerging identities. A focus of my practice is to work with the client; I understand that every client is unique, and there is no "one size fits all" approach. I aim to provide the right amount of care, purpose, mindfulness and building blocks for the client to grow. Finding the right therapist can be a challenge, so please reach out for a free consultation to see if I am the right fit for your needs.
